2016 Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog is here!

2016 Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog is here!

This post will showcase Christmas cards using new products from the 2016 Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog! All of these images from the Santa’s Sleigh set are stamped in Black ink on colored cardstock (Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Soft Suede) and die-cut with the coordinating Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits.  Purchasing both items together as a bundle – #143499 Santa Sleight Bundle $45.75 – saves you 10% too.  The snowflake paper is from the This Christmas Designer Series Paper from the main 2015/2016 catalog. This paper is more lightweight and includes 24 sheets (12 x 12) instead of the usual 12.  Very Vanilla cardstock is torn across the top and layered along the bottom of the front of the card to give a clean spot for stamping the greeting.  I did not pop up any of the images so no extra postage is required 🙂 These two cards use the new Detailed Santa Thinlits Dies and coordinating Greetings from Santa stamp set.  Purchasing the bundle –  #143524 $39.50 for clear mount and #143523 $46.75 for wood mount – saves you 10% too.  The card base is Pool Party and the Shimmery White cardstock is used for the die-cut piece as it is thicker and adds a little extra sparkle.  The top card has the greeting stamped directly on the card base as my first attempt at stamping on the Shimmery White was crooked.  These would make great shaker cards too 🙂 I hope you enjoyed todays projects using some products from the new 2016 Stampin’ Up! Holiday catalog.  You can view other products by clicking the 2016 Holiday Catalog link in the right side bar.  Please let me know if you would like to receive the Holiday catalog in the mail too – Happy...

Christmas cards – start now!

Christmas cards – start now!

If you haven’t already started your Christmas cards, start now!  I’m getting a late start but love this card using the Snow Place stamp set and matching Snow Friends Framelits from the 2015 Holiday Catalog from Stampin’ Up! Red and green are traditional holiday colors and accents of black make them pop just a little bit more 🙂  The Real Red cardstock is a standard card size (for us in the US) and measures 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored down the middle at 4-1/4″. The background of shimmery trees is from the “Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Series Vellum” and is trimmed 4″ x 3-5/8″ and layered onto Whisper White cardstock cut the same size.  I adhered the vellum piece with a little liquid glue strategically placed behind some of the trees.  The Basic Black layer is just a smidgeon larger at 4-1/8″ x 3-3/4″ for a 1/16th border all the way around. I stamped the snowmen, hat and greeting with Black Stazon on Whisper White cardstock.  The Snow Place stamps are Photopolymer and can get a little “sticky” when stamping with Stazon ink.  I really prefer the black of the Stazon over the Memento Tuxedo Black ink and have some tips to share: make sure the Stazon ink pad is juicy (can get a little “sticky” when it starts to dry out) “tap, tap” on the ink pad press firmly on the cardstock (don’t mash) lift up slowly (sometimes the photopolymer really grabs the cardstock and if you pull up quickly, the paper may tear) clean the photopolymer immediately after use (a damp paper towel is good for a vigorous wipe or the Stampin’ Scrub) The Snow Friends Framelits easily cut the pieces when using the Magnetic Platform with the Big Shot.  Be careful with the tiny framelits (and also the long skinny ones) as they will sometimes jump towards a magnet in the Magnetic Platform.  If you find a framelit keeps jumping, move the paper in that direction till the framelit is laying flat. Here are the supplies used for this Christmas Card:   Snow Place Photopolymer Bundle – 140844 Price: $45.00 Real Red 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock – 102482 Price: $7.00 Whisper White 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock – 100730 Price: $8.50 Basic Black 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock – 121045 Price: $7.00 Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum – 139597 Price: $11.00 Jet Black Stazon Pad – 101406 Price: $8.00 Real Red Classic Stampin’ Pad – 126949 Price: $6.50 Brights Stampin’ Write Markers – 131259 Price: $29.00 Rhinestone Basic Jewels – 119246 Price: $5.00 Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits Dies – 135854 Price: $33.00 Supply List Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog I have a Keenan Kreations YouTube...

New Holiday Shaker Cards from Stampin’ Up!

New Holiday Shaker Cards from Stampin’ Up!

I just finished the last Shaker Card Class this weekend and my customers had a great time creating the new Holiday Shaker Cards from Stampin’ Up! The “To You & Yours Shaker Cards Project Kit” is only $24 (item #139647) and includes supplies for 18 fabulous shaker cards!  The “To You & Yours Too” stamp set is recommended (#139819 $16) but I substituted different greetings and die-cuts for mine. The project kit includes all of the following items: White die-cut card fronts (6 each of 3 designs) Envelopes (18) Printed foil card bases (6 each of 3 designs) Window Sheets (18) “Joy” and “Merry & Bright” word stickers (6 each and in 3 different languages) Stickers (6 each gold foil stars, green Christmas trees and green circles) Sticker sheet of tiny gold stars Red Metallic Baker’s Twine Star sequins (gold and silver, various sizes) Circle sequins (red, green and gold, various sizes) Chunky clear glitter Dimensionals Ahesive strips Stampin’ Dimensionals Here are just a few of the Holiday Shaker Cards I assembled: I added the star sequins with Glue Dots and the new Fine-Tip Glue Pen (#138309 $7) for the smaller ones.   The stars hanging from the Baker’s Twine are glue back-to-back with Glue Dots. I used the “Peaceful Pines” stamp set for my tree and die-cut the tree base with Gold Foil Sheets and the “Perfect Pines Framelits” die.  The sequins are added to the front of the window sheet with Glue Dots but you could also add them to the stamped image.  I also die-cut the front piece smaller so more of the card base showed. The greeting is from the “Snow Place” stamp set (#139738 $26). The ornament topper is die-cut from Silver Foil Sheet with the “Delicate Ornament Thinlits Dies” and the tope piece is trimmed smaller too. I added the “JOY” sticker to some of the ornaments but not all. I sponged the tree background on some of the trees too. There are directions included in the kit but here are some basic things to remember: If you are going to have a stamped greeting, stamp it on the die-cut layer first.  Then if you mess up, you can turn it over and stamp on the other side 🙂 Add the outline sticker.  Be careful when removing the stickers, bend the sheet so the edge pops up and pull up gently.  Use the chipboard that comes in the kit (it’s a grayish color) as your work surface, it helps to see the edges of the white cardstock better than if you’re working on the white Grid Paper. On the back side, add adhesive around the opening and layer the window sheet. Build the “wall” with the Dimensional Strips around the...

Christmas Card using a fun fold

Christmas Card using a fun fold

I’m still making my holiday cards and wanted to create a Christmas card using a fun fold.  The Circle Card Thinlits die will quickly and easily cut and score your cardstock to create this flip card using the Festival of Trees stamp set from Stampin’ Up!   This project was also a make-n-take at a recent workshop and the guests loved the non-traditional holiday colors of Soft Sky, Lost Lagoon and Pear Pizzazz.    These colors were pulled from the “All is Calm” Designer Series Paper in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog. Have you ever had a Stampin’ Up! workshop?  I love sharing rubber stamping with crafters and a workshop is the perfect environment to try out some of Stampin’ Up!’s products and learn some tips and tricks too.  I provide the guests with 2 make-n-takes and all orders contribute towards free product for the hostess.  Sale-a-bration is right around the corner (starts January 6th!) and is possibly the BEST time to have a workshop.  During Sale-a-bration, the customers can earn free product too:  1 free item from the Sale-a-bration Brochure for each $50 in product ordered (before tax and shipping).  This year, the Occasions Catalog also begins January 6th and you are going to be blown away with the new stamps and accessories (yes I’ve seen the catalog and have my order arriving Tuesday!!!). If  you are an existing customer (having placed an order in the last year) then you will automatically receive the Occasions Catalog and Sale-a-bration Brochure from Stampin’ Up! in about 2-3 weeks.  However, if you placed an online order with me and unchecked the box that says “allow Demonstrator to contact me”, then I do not have your name and address on file and am unable to send you the catalogs.  If you’ve placed an order at my online store and never heard from me, that’s likely what happened but I’m still happy to send you the catalogs – you just need to contact me to let me know your name and address 🙂 Here’s a picture of the inside of this Christmas card with a  fun fold:   You could also scoot the Christmas Tree to the right panel if you wanted more room to write a personal message. There’s a simple trick to add that extra panel on the right side and you can watch a video tutorial for this project at my Keenan Kreations YouTube channel.   Here’s the list of supplies that you can purchase from my online store: Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog I hope you enjoyed today’s project and will be inspired to create your own Christmas cards with a fun fold...
