New Holiday Shaker Cards from Stampin’ Up!

I just finished the last Shaker Card Class this weekend and my customers had a great time creating the new Holiday Shaker Cards from Stampin’ Up! The “To You & Yours Shaker Cards Project Kit” is only $24 (item #139647) and includes supplies for 18 fabulous shaker cards!  The “To You & Yours Too” stamp set is recommended (#139819 $16) but I substituted different greetings and die-cuts for mine. The project kit includes all of the following items: White die-cut card fronts (6 each of 3 designs) Envelopes (18) Printed foil card bases (6 each of 3 designs) Window Sheets (18) “Joy” and “Merry & Bright” word stickers (6 each and in 3 different languages) Stickers (6 each gold foil stars, green Christmas trees and green circles) Sticker sheet of tiny gold stars Red Metallic Baker’s Twine Star sequins (gold and silver, various sizes) Circle sequins (red, green and gold, various sizes) Chunky clear glitter Dimensionals Ahesive strips Stampin’ Dimensionals Here are just a few of the Holiday Shaker Cards I assembled: I added the star sequins with Glue Dots and the new Fine-Tip Glue Pen (#138309 $7) for the smaller ones.   The stars hanging from the Baker’s Twine are glue back-to-back with Glue Dots. I used the “Peaceful Pines” stamp set for my tree and die-cut the tree base with Gold Foil Sheets and the “Perfect Pines Framelits” die.  The sequins are added to the front of the window sheet with Glue Dots but you could also add them to the stamped image.  I also die-cut the front piece smaller so more of the card base showed. The greeting is from the “Snow Place” stamp set (#139738 $26). The ornament topper is die-cut from Silver Foil Sheet with the “Delicate Ornament Thinlits Dies” and the tope piece is trimmed smaller too. I added the “JOY” sticker to some of the ornaments but not all. I sponged the tree background on some of the trees too. There are directions included in the kit but here are some basic things to remember: If you are going to have a stamped greeting, stamp it on the die-cut layer first.  Then if you mess up, you can turn it over and stamp on the other side Add the outline sticker.  Be careful when removing the stickers, bend the sheet so the edge pops up and pull up gently.  Use the chipboard that comes in the kit (it’s a grayish color) as your work surface, it helps to see the edges of the white cardstock better than if you’re working on the white Grid Paper. On the back side, add adhesive around the opening and layer the window sheet. Build the “wall” with the Dimensional Strips around the opening.  Do not get too close to the opening or it may show from the front.  Make sure the Dimensional pieces are touching and there are no gaps.  MOST IMPORTANT with the tiny chunky glitter! On the ornament and star cards, add the shaker pieces in the center (1/2 teaspoon seems to be a good amount). Remove the adhesive backing, add the white cardstock piece to seal it all together. Add Dimensional Strips  to the top and bottom, layer to the front of your card. With the tree cards, you’ll add a pile of the Chunky Glitter on top of the...

How gorgeous is that embossed background?!  This card uses the new “Woodland” Embossing Folder (#139673 $8.50) and Soft Suede ink is sponged across the raised images.  That embossing folder is part of a bundle that includes the Among the Branches stamp set (#140872 $21.50) beginning September 1st.  The stamp set has 3 greetings (fall, Halloween and Christmas) and coordinating images (spooky eyes and raven, leaves, ornaments and snowflakes) making it a MUST have for the holiday season 😀  I used the following colors:  Soft Suede, Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie, Hello Honey and Old Olive. My last card uses the new Snow Place stamp set which is available as a bundle with the matching “Snow Friends” Framelits (#140844 $45) beginning September 1st.  The background is embossed with the “Softly Falling” Embossing Folder.  I kept this color combination pretty simple with Bermuda Bay, White and Black (Pumpkin Pie for the feet and nose   Not sure if my snow is falling correctly or if it’s upside down! I will be sharing more projects using Holiday Catalog products over the next few months.  Please leave me a comment below and let me know what types of projects you’d like to see:  gift card holders, treat bags or boxes, cards, etc… Thank you so much for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed these projects using new products from the Stampin’ Up! New Fluttering Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!

New Fluttering Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up!

Another favorite accessory from the new Stampin’ Up! catalog is the Fluttering Embossing Folder!  A nice feature of this embossing folder is that it measures 6″ x 6″ and allows you to emboss in landscape or portrait This card uses the Brayer and Wisteria Wonder ink to create an “ombre” look.  The base cardstock (8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ and scored at 4-1/4″) is the new “Whisper White Thick” cardstock which is much sturdier than our regular Whisper White.  The Wisteria Wonder layer is 4″ x 5-1/4″ and the embossed Whisper White is a smidgeon smaller at 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.  I’m not an expert with the Brayer but it was pretty easy to create this look.  After inking the brayer, start off the cardstock and go softly from the bottom up.  Just keep repeating till you get the look you like   I finished off the card with a pretty bow tied with Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding and a few Rhinestones.  Here’s the list of supplies: Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder – 139304 Price: $8.50 Whisper White 8-1/2″ X 11″ Thick Cardstock – 140272 Price: $7.00 Wisteria Wonder 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock – 122922 Price: $7.00 Wisteria Wonder 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon – 134572 Price: $7.00 Wisteria Wonder Classic Stampin’ Pad – 126985 Price: $6.50 Lots Of Labels Framelits Dies – 138281 Price: $27.00 Rhinestone Basic Jewels – 119246 Price: $5.00 Stampin’ Dimensionals – 104430 Price: $4.00 Supply List Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog This card uses Sponge Daubers to add the new 2015-2017 In Color inks to the embossed butterflies.  It’s a little tricky to not get some of the ink on the background so I purposefully went outside the lines with softer sponging.  The embossed panel is 3″ x 5-1/2″ and the base cardstock is Mint Macaron.  Supplies: Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder – 139304 Price: $8.50 Mint Macaron 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock – 138337 Price: $7.00 Whisper White 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock – 100730 Price: $8.50 Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon – 114319 Price: $6.00 Tags & Labels Framelits Dies – 138282 Price: $27.00 Tip Top Taupe Classic Stampin’ Pad – 138325 Price: $6.50 Watermelon Wonder Classic Stampin’ Pad – 138323 Price: $6.50 Mint Macaron Classic Stampin’ Pad – 138326 Price: $6.50 Delightful Dijion Classic Stampin’ Pad – 138327 Price: $6.50 Cucumber Crush Classic Stampin’ Pad – 138324 Price: $6.50 Sponge Daubers – 133773 Price: $5.00 Stampin’ Dimensionals – 104430 Price: $4.00 Supply List Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog This last card using the Fluttering Embossing Folder from Stampin’ Up! is probably my favorite!  I just love the soft, pastel colors and also the minimal layering.  I did take more care to keep the background pretty clean but it’s almost impossible not to have a few ink smudges here and there   The trick is to use the flat part of the Dauber in the center of the butterflies and the edge of the dauber around the edges of the butterflies.  I used the Thick Whisper White cardstock for the base of the card and the Organza Ribbon goes all the way around the card.  Supplies: Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing Folder – 139304 Price: $8.50 Tin Of Cards Photopolymer Stamp Set – 138946 Price: $17.00 Whisper White 5/8″ Organza Ribbon – 114319 Price: $6.00 Tags & Labels Framelits Dies –...

New Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up!

New Watercolor Wings from Stampin’ Up!

After my classes this week, I finally have time to create with the new Watercolor Wings stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  What do you think of this card?   The background is Whisper White cardstock (3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″) embossed with the new Brick Wall Embossing Folder.  I then sponged Cajun Craze and Soft Suede inks across the raised bricks with Sponge Daubers.  The sponging will naturally add more ink around the edges of the bricks and very little ink in the grout lines.  Your sponging also doesn’t have to be perfect either because bricks have variation in color The butterflies are stamped in three steps: Bold, solid image is stamped in Soft Sky Outline image (on left and right sides) is stamped in Marina Mist Detailed image is stamped in Island Indigo After stamping the 3 different layers, I die-cut the butterflies with the simple, outline framelits (not the detailed framelits).  The Bold Butterfly Framelits is for the large butterfly and the Butterfly Thinlits is for the smaller butterfly.  The body of the butterflies are stamped after the die-cutting to ensure they are in the right spot.  If you stamp the butterfly body before you die-cut, you may be too high or too low and it won’t line up properly. The greeting is from the Tin of Cards stamp set, stamped in Cajun Craze and die-cut with the Tags & Labels Framelits. The Watercolor Wings stamp set is available as a bundle with the Bold Butterfly Framelits for a 15% savings but you’ll also want to make sure you have the Butterflies Thinlits as they coordinate together   The large outline butterfly framelit matches the medium detail butterfly and the small detail framelit matches the small outline butterfly.  Isn’t is great when products coordinate together?!   Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Bundle – 140232 Price: $36.50 Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Stamp Set – 139424 Price: $26.00 Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies – 138135 Price: $17.00 Butterflies Thinlits Dies – 137360 Price: $25.00 Tin Of Cards Photopolymer Stamp Set – 138946 Price: $17.00 Tags & Labels Framelits Dies – 138282 Price: $27.00 Brick Wall Textured Impressions Embossing Folder – 138288 Price: $8.50 Whisper White 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock – 100730 Price: $8.50 Cajun Craze 8-1/2″ X 11″ Cardstock – 119684 Price: $6.95 Sponge Daubers – 133773 Price: $4.95 Cajun Craze Classic Stampin’ Pad – 126965 Price: $6.50 Soft Suede Classic Stampin’ Pad – 126978 Price: $5.95 Soft Sky Classic Stampin’ Pad – 131181 Price: $6.50 Marina Mist Classic Stampin’ Pad – 126962 Price: $6.50 Island Indigo Classic Stampin’ Pad – 126986 Price: $5.95 Stampin’ Dimensionals – 104430 Price: $4.00 Supply List Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog Leave me a comment below and let me know if you like today’s project using the new Watercolor Wings from Stampin’...

Versatile Stamp Set!

Versatile Stamp Set!

What makes a versatile stamp set?  For me, a stamp set is versatile if it can be used for a variety of occasions.  The new Sprinkles of Life is one of those stamp sets – VERY versatile!   The base of this card is the new Mint Macaron which is one of the new 2015-2017 In Colors – isn’t it pretty?  The ice cream scoops and cone are stamped on Shimmer White cardstock (watercolor paper would work too) in Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Chocolate Chip and Watermelon Wonder.  I then used an Aquapainter to add more of the same color.  This method will slightly lighten and blue the outlines but I like that effect for this card.  I used Crystal Effects to add some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the ice cream scoops which are punched out with the coordinating Tree Builder Punch.  You have to trim the cone with scissors but it’s a pretty easy trim.  I layered all the pieces with Glue Dots to Shimmery White cardstock and then added to Chocolate Chip cardstock.  Dimensionals are used to layer to the front of the card.  The greeting was stamped with Chocolate Chip on Mint Macaron cardstock and die-cut with the Banners Framelits.   This card used the same ice cream scoop image to create clouds!  I stamped them in Versamark on Shimmery White cardstock (yes, it’s my favorite!) and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder.  The raindrops are punched from colored cardstock:  Pacific Point, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo, Real Red.  I added them to the Shimmery White cardstock with Glue Dots and then added Crystal Effects on top to give them the look of raindrops.  Crystal Effects will take 20-30 minutes to dry so be sure to set aside someplace safe (coming from someone with 2 nosy cats!). Here’s a picture of this versatile stamp set and coordinating punch, both available June 2nd!   Just look at all the different images and greetings – 22 stamps for only $21!!!  Here’s one more card that was a make-n-take at my team meeting this month:   The background is Watermelon Wonder cardstock embossed with the new Boho Chic Embossing Folder.  The paper banners are from the new “Cherry on Top” Designer Series Paper Stack and the notches on the end are created with the new Triple Banner Punch.  I stamped the cupcake pieces in Crushed Curry and Tempting Turquoise on Whisper White cardstock and then sponed with the same colors. Please let me know if you would like to receive the new 2015/2016 Stampin’ Up! catalog.  It will be available online June 2nd and you can order Stampin’ Up! products by clicking the “Order Online” link in the right sidebar.  I’m also more than happy to place your order for you – just contact me at brenda@keenankreations.com I hope you enjoyed these projects using the new versatile stamp set, Sprinkles of Life, and will be inspired to create something fun...

Easy Embossed Vellum Technique!

Posted by on May 9, 2015 in Featured, Flowers, Greeting Cards, video | 18 comments

Easy Embossed Vellum Technique!

I found a gorgeous card online (by Deb Valder) and was inspired to create this version using an easy Embossed Vellum technique:   Stamps:  Indescribable Gift Ink:  Black Stazon, Chocolate Chip, Wild Wasabi Paper:  Soft Sky, Whisper White, Cardstock Vellum Accessories:  Ovals Collection Framelits, Piercing Tool, Foam Mat, Piercing Template, Stylus, Wax Paper, Wild Wasabi Seam Binding So, there’s some “good news” and some “bad news” for this card.  The bad news is that the Indescribable Gift set from the Occasions catalog is NOT in the new catalog   The good news is that you can still order it 😀 You can watch a video tutorial for this card at my Keenan Kreations YouTube channel: Speaking of good news, I just received my shipment of the new 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! catalog!!!     And I also received my pre-order of the Sneak Peek items and thought this stamp set would be perfect for the Embossed Vellum technique:     This card uses the new You’ve Got This stamp set and Mint Macaron ink and cardstock.  I also added Crystal Effects on the leaves and stem.  Mint Macaron is one of the new 2015-2017 In Colors.  Want to see them?  Check it out:   What do you think about these new colors?  The Cucumber Crush is not as yellow in person, more like a Kelly Green.  The Mint Macaron (it is spelled with only one “o” too) reminds me of Sage Shadow from LONG AGO and the Delightful Dijon is similar to More Mustard (in name and color!).  They are very pretty in person and I can’t wait to start using them with our existing colors. My customers will automatically receive their copy of the new 2015-2016 Stampin’ Up! catalog but some are showing up as “no contact” and I cannot view their contact information.  If you want to be certain you’re on the list to receive the new catalog, please email me at Brenda@keenankreations.com I hope you enjoyed todays project featuring the Embossed Vellum technique along with a couple of sneak peeks from the new catalog!...

Paper Scraps for cards

Paper Scraps for cards

If you have a ton of paper scraps (like me!), here’s a fun way to create a colorful background for cards   (This card was inspired by Nancy Amato at http://stampinallnight.blogspot.com/2014/07/designer-series-paper-sunburst-card.html ) I kept this card pretty simple since there’s a LOT going on in the background with all the patterns and bright colors from the “Sweet Taffy” Designer Series Paper.  It’s SUPER easy to create the “sunburst” pattern: Cut 6 strips to 4 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ Cut the strips from one corner to the opposite to create long, thin triangles Add adhesive to completely cover scrap cardstock (3″ x 5″) Start at the bottom center and add the first piece with the smallest point at the bottom Continue adding strips, one next to the other, until the background is completely covered Turn over and trim off all the excess paper Layer to Whisper White cardstock (3 1/8″ x 5 1/8″) Layer to Tempting Turquoise cardstock (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″) with Dimensionals Stamp the greeting in Tempting Turquoise on Whisper White cardstock and die-cut with the Deco Labels Framelits Add greeting to the card with Dimensionals (single layer of Dimensionals at the top and double layer at the bottom) Stampin’ Up! has recently announced their retiring products and I am determined to use up most of my pretty designer series papers before the new catalog is release on June 3rd.  Don’t you think this is a great way to use paper scraps for cards? Here are the supplies for this project:   Oh My Goodies Clear-Mount Stamp Set – 134090 Price: $17.95 Oh My Goodies Wood-Mount Stamp Set – 134087 Price: $24.95 Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper – 133693 Price: $10.95 Tempting Turquoise 8-1/2″ X 11″ Card Stock – 102067 Price: $6.95 Tempting Turquoise Classic Stampin’ Pad – 126952 Price: $5.95 Whisper White 8-1/2″ X 11″ Card Stock – 100730 Price: $8.50 Deco Labels Framelits Die – 130102 Price: $24.95 Stampin’ Dimensionals – 104430 Price: $3.95 Supply List Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog You can also watch a video tutorial from my KeenanKreations YouTube channel: The retirement lists are updated daily to show the availability of all retiring products. Retiring List PDF Retiring List Sortable Excel File My Digital Studio (PDF) My Digital Studio (Excel) Stampin’ Up! has also announced a few price increases in the new catalog coming out June 3rd: Ink pads and refills: Our last price increase for ink pads and refills was in 2009. Over time, our costs have gone up, resulting in a small price increase. Extra-large punches: Our punch supplier increased our cost on some of our punches, necessitating a price increase on our largest punch-body style. Big Shot, cutting pads, and crease pads: Our supplier has raised their prices, and we’ve adjusted our prices to be in line with those changes. Thank you for stopping by!  I hope you enjoyed today’s project showing you how to use paper scraps for your cards...

Cards with a fun fold!

Posted by on April 4, 2015 in Featured, Greeting Cards, Promotions, video | 0 comments

Cards with a fun fold!

This Pinwheel card has a fun fold and showcases both sides of the designer series papers from Stampin’ Up!  The paper is cut to 8″ x 8″ and then scored using the Simply Scored along with the Diagonal Plate. The first card for today uses the “Something Borrowed” paper and the “Feel Goods” stamp set with a color combination of Whisper White and Sahara Sand. The greeting is stamped with Sahara Sand ink on Whisper White cardstock and die-cut with the Labels Thinlits and Big Shot. The greeting is attached to a 7/8″ wide “belly band” accented with White Organza ribbon.  The band easily slips off and allows the card to be opened. The inside layer is Whisper White cardstock trimmed to 4″ x 4″ which gives you plenty of room for a personal message and gift card. You can watch a video tutorial with easy directions for this fun fold card: Here are a couple more variations of the Pinwheel fold card:   This one uses the “Birthday Bash” Designer Series Paper and the “Celebrate Today” stamp set with matching Balloon Framelits.  The balloon is stamped in Calypso Coral and the greeting in Night of Navy.  I added Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim for a sparkly embellishment and the greeting is die-cut with the Bitty Banners Framelit.  I love the design on this paper – it makes me think of books on a bookshelf, perfect for a graduate   This graduation card uses the “Back to Black” Designer Series Paper and the super fun “B.Y.O.P” stamp set The greetings in that stamp set cover a variety of occasions and are perfect for gift cards, checks and money. These cards are easy to create and a little bit addicting!  Once you make one, you’ll want to create others using different designer series papers and color combinations. You can purchase supplies for these projects at my online store (click the link in the right side bar) but you should hold off until Monday:   FREE SHIPPING!!!  And it’s for every order, no minimum 😀   I hope you enjoyed today’s cards showcasing the Pinwheel Fun Fold and will be inspired to create some of your...
