Stampin’ Up! Butterflies Thinlits dies!
I am in LOVE with the new Stampin’ Up! Butterflies Thinlits dies! They are so easy to create and add an elegant embellishment to your cards that is sure to “wow!” your friends 🙂
I recently received this beautiful card from Debbie Reynolds and loved how she die-cut the butterfly from the Whisper White layer and then adhered it back to the center of the opening:
I have a LOT of pretty designer series papers and decided to use the same idea with different papers and colored cardstock. I also die-cut a separate butterfly in Strawberry Slush for a little contrast on the outside of the card. The other butterfly is used to decorate the inside 🙂
You can watch a Stampin’ Up! video with tips for the Butterflies Thinlits dies here:
I did use the wax paper between the thinlit and the paper and the little pieces were easy to pop out. This card is pretty quick and easy and is fun to create using different designer papers and cardstock. Some of the samples below used a second butterfly under the top one and tiny slivers of Dimensionals keep the wings from laying flat.
When you die-cut the butterfly from the patterned paper, set the butterfly aside and layer the patterned paper to the front of the folded card. Secure the butterfly to the center of the opening with Glue Dots and add tiny slivers of Dimensionals to the underside of the wings to keep them popped up. The cards above and below have a 2nd gold butterfly layered (just slightly offset) under the top butterfly for a little contrast.
The card below has a white butterfly layer under the patterned one.
If you have a lot of patterned paper, these cards are a great way to use them up and they are sure to bring a smile to whoever you send them to 🙂 There’s 3 different butterflies and the thinlits are also available as a bundle (photopolymer, clear-mount or wood-mount).
