Sneak peek at the new Alcohol Markers from Stampin’ Up!
I can see that I may develop a “problem” with the new Blendabilities alcohol markers from Stampin’ Up! They are REALLY fun and easy to color with and work beautifully with the Blended Bloom stamp set – both from the new 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up! catalog.
For this project, I stamped the flower several times in Memento Black (special ink pad required for alcohol markers) on Whisper White cardstock. I used the Blendabilities alcohol markers in the following colors:
- Rich Razzleberry
- Cherry Cobbler
- Pumpkin Pie
- Coastal Cabana
- Daffodil Delight
Each of the colors come in a pack of three with light, medium and dark shades. There’s no complicated numbering system – just pick the color you want and Stampin’ Up! gives you three shades of that color. Easy peasy! Now, I’m not an artist and I have no idea where my light source is coming from – I just tried to have some dark areas and some light areas 😉
After everything was colored the way I liked it, I used the “Color Lifter” to further blend and slightly lighten the petals. I trimmed the stamped cardstock into three different panels that measured 1-5/8″ x 3-7/8″ and layered them onto Basic Black cardstock that was a littler larger at 1-3/4″ x 4″. I added about six Dimensionals to each of the panels and then layered them to the font of the folded Whisper White cardstock (5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″).
I thought about adding some ribbon, or some silver butterflies or at least a greeting, but I decided to leave it as is. The flowers are so pretty on their own, don’t you think?
Now you’ve probably seen a lot of samples online (or will soon) using the Blendabilities alcohol markers, but I need to warn you that they may not be available to order when the new catalog goes live on June 1st. We’re still waiting to hear from Stampin’ Up! on the actual release date so just know that I will post that information as soon as it’s available.
I also want to share a few photos from the Stampin’ Up! cruise last week. I traveled with my husband and oldest son, Danny, and we enjoyed a few excursions:
The first port was Labadee, Haiti and we spent the day relaxing at the beach.
The next port was Falmouth, Jamaica and we toured the Good Hope Plantation Home.
The last port was Cozumel, Mexico and we probably could have spent a few days there – so much to see! We went snorkeling in the morning.
That is our cruise ship, Allure of the Seas, in the background.
We had a problem with the time change and arrived an hour early so we watched this pelican eat some fish!
After snorkeling, we went to a park and swam with the manatees! Maybe the funnest thing we’ve ever done 🙂
We all got to “kiss” them and enjoyed feeding them LOTS of lettuce 🙂
I’ll post more cruise pics on my Keenan Kreations Facebook page soon too 🙂
Thanks for stopping by! Hope you enjoyed the cruise pics and the card using the “available soon” Blendabilities alcohol markers from Stampin’ Up!
