Easy Colors of the Rainbow Card

Posted by on May 1, 2014 in Featured, Greeting Cards | 0 comments

I created this easy and cheerful card using the colors of the rainbow to go with a brand new stamp set from the upcoming 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up! catalog.  The new “Work of Art” stamp set has this large “swoosh” type image that immediately made me think of a rainbow.  I used the following ink colors:

  • Real Red
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Wild Wasabi
  • Tempting Turquoise
  • Wisteria Wonder

It’s not easy to see in the photo, but the base of the card is Basic Black (5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″) and the Whisper White layer is 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ so there’s only a tiny border of black around the edges.  I purposely stamped the images so they ran off the left side of the Whisper White cardstock and left me room on the right side for the greeting.  I started at the bottom and worked my way up being sure to really clean the stamp after each color.  Sometimes I do a “cheater clean” where I just twist the stamp on scrap paper to remove most of the ink but for these colors, you really want a clean stamp each time.

I stamped the butterfly from Papillon Potpourri in the same colors and punched them out with the Bitty Butterfly Punch.  I added them to the card with a Glue Dot in the middle and a bit of Dimensional under each wing.  I leave the paper backing on the Dimensionals under the wings so they are only stuck to the butterflies and not the card.  This keeps the wings propped up and gives it more dimension.

I added Rhinestones to the butterflies for a little extra sparkle.  I posted this easy rainbow card on my Keenan Kreations Facebook Page yesterday and asked if the greeting was OK as it was or should it be stamped on scratch paper, punched out and popped up.  Most liked it just the way it is and I think I do too.  Keeping the greeting as it is allows the butterflies to stand out more.  If you haven’t already, please check out my Facebook Page and subscribe if you like what you see.  You can also share the posts with your Facebook friends if you think they would enjoy my rubber stamping and paper crafting projects 😉

I’ll be heading out Saturday for the Stampin’ Up! Western Caribbean Cruise and will announce a promotion for my customers in the next few days so be sure to check back – it’s going to be a good one!

Thank you for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed the quick and easy card featuring the colors of the rainbow and will stop back by again soon 🙂
