New alcohol markers from Stampin’ Up!

I just got back late last night from the Stampin’ Up! Western Caribbean Cruise and am a bit tired but couldn’t wait to try out the new alcohol markers called Blendabilities!

As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, I was able to preorder some products from the new 2014-2015 catalog and this card was created using some new and old products:

New alcohol markers from Stampin' Up!

  • Stamps:  Perfectly Penned (retiring), Fabulous Florets, Blended Bloom (new!)
  • Ink:  Memento Black, Blendabilities:  Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight and Old Olive
  • Paper:  Rich Razzleberry, Whisper White
  • Accessories:  Blendabilities Color Lifter

The base of the card is 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″ down the middle.  The Whisper White layer is a smidgeon smaller than normal at 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ since I had to trim a ink smudge off the edge.  This was my first project using alcohol markers and I think it turned out pretty good considering I didn’t really know if I was using them correctly!  I was surprised at how easy the colors blended together – VERY different than our regular water-based markers.

I stamped the flower in Memento Black first and added the darkest Rich Razzleberry around the edges of the petals.  I then used the medium Rich Razzleberry and then finished with the lightest.  Stampin’ Up!’s Blendabilities come in packs of three with different shades of the same color:  Dark, Medium, Light.  The alcohol markers have a small and a large tip and I used the large tip for all the coloring but I’ve seen where others use the smaller – I think it may just come down to what you prefer.  I used the Color Lifter to lighten some areas and give a little more contrast.

I made this card as a thank you for my neighbor Noreen who took good care of our cats (and our home) while we were away last week.  We have wonderful neighbors and we all look out for each other.  Another neighbor brought in the heavy Stampin’ Up! boxes that were delivered while I was gone.  A few orders for customers, my preorder from the new catalog and last but not least, the brand new 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up! catalogs 🙂

I’m offering a sampling of the new 2014-2016 In Colors (cardstock and ribbons) for orders placed from May 1st – 14th so there’s a couple more days left.  You can read the details in the previous post:
