Another Masculine Birthday Card
I really enjoyed the masculine birthday card in my earlier post and decided to create another one! This card was also the make-n-take for Cottage Crafts earlier this week except for the addition of the Pearls. I found a really sweet card by Rachel Tessman (you can view her card at http://www.pinterest.com/pin/110901209549021359/) and was inspired to create this one using the By the Tide stamp set – a perfect set for a masculine card!
- Stamps: By the Tide, Perfectly Penned
- Ink: Soft Suede, Marina Mist
- Paper: Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
- Accessories: Pearls, Stampin’ Sponges, Linen Thread
The base of the card is Marina Mist (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″) which is a really great “middle of the road” blue. It’s not too dark and it’s not too light Plus, the name “Marina Mist” seems meant to be used with the By the Tide set 😉
The lobster, fish and seashell are stamped with Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla cardstock (5 1/2″ x 2 1/8″). I purposely stamped the lobster and seashell so part of the image is off the paper and the fish is a little right of center. The coral image is stamped in Marina Mist in the spaces between the images. The coral image is light and lacy and it’s ok that it overlaps the other images. I used a Stampin’ Sponge to add Soft Suede ink around the edges and tied a simple knot around the left side with Linen Thread before layering to Soft Suede cardstock (5 1/2″ x about 3″). I started with a larger than needed piece of the Soft Suede cardstock so I would have enough extra to hold and tear across the bottom. More sponging with the Soft Suede ink before it’s layered to the front of the card. I added a few Pearls here and there, including one to dot the “i” in the greeting.
The greeting for this masculine birthday card is from the Perfectly Penned stamp set:
and is part of the retiring stamps which means it’s only available while supplies last!
You can view ALL the retiring stamps and accessories at my online store (click the link to the right) or you can print the lists:
