Quick and Easy Birthday Card

I had a VERY fun workshop today and Teresa and her guests got to create this quick and easy birthday card as one of their make-n-takes:

cupcake birthday 1

How pretty is that Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper?!  This is a pretty simple layout that I often use when I need a quick card and the strips of the designer series papers measure 2″ x 5 1/4″ so you can get 12 strips from each 12 x 12 sheet for a total of 144 strips.  That means you can create 72 cards using one pack of the Birthday Basics paper!.  All of the designs work well together too so you can mix and match all of them to vary the project a bit.

We layered the papers to a base of Whisper White cardstock (4″ x 5 1/4″) and tied the ribbon all the way around before layering it to the front of the folded Whisper White cardstock (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″).  The cupcake is stamped on Whisper White in Summer Starfruit and Raspberry Ripple and punched with the Cupcake punch.  Dimensionals are under the cupcake pieces, the scallop circle layer and the greeting.

You could choose a colored cardstock for the base card but I really liked how the Whisper White kept this birthday card nice and bright :-)

Stampin' Up! Birthday Card

Since some of the guests had not stamped before, I also showed a simpler version using our  Note Cards & Envelopes.  These come in a pack of 20, are already cut and scored, include envelopes and are only $5.95!  They  are a wonderful option for beginner stampers that may not have a paper trimmer or don’t feel comfortable cutting their own cardstock yet.  Experienced stampers like myself also like them because they are a quick and easy way to create a card without a lot of muss and fuss 😉  The card above used the Decorative Label Punch for the Bermuda Bay layer under the cupcake pieces and I think the strip of Birthday Basics Designer Series paper is 1″ x 5″ (or something pretty close).

So if you’re in need of a quick and easy birthday card, start with some pretty designer series paper, add a stamped image, a greeting and some ribbon and call it done!

  1. This is a great project if you are new to stamping . I just made my first 6 cards this evening after attending Brenda’s make and take. They turned out great, the paper is adorable and I just love that the stamp and punch go together.

    • Thanks Samantha! See you tomorrow for some more fun projects :-)
