Embossed and Watercolored Christmas card
I love the elegant look of this embossd and watercolored Christmas card using Stampin’ Up!’s “Joyful Christmas” stamp set:
Stunning, huh? I embossed the front of the card (Shimmery White cardstock) with the Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder and Big Shot. The Poinsettia, leaves and greeting were all stamped in Versamark on Shimmery White cardstock and embossed with Gold Embossing powder. I used the Aquapainter to color in the poinsettia with Cherry Cobbler ink and the leaves with Garden Green. The Poinsettia was actually stamped, embossed and watercolored a 2nd time so I could trim out just the center and pop it up with Dimensionals. All the flower and leaf images are trimmed with our Paper Snips but it’s a pretty easy trim if you cut just outside the edges. The greeting can be die-cut with the Apothecary accents and Big Shot. Everything is popped up with Dimensionals but I used Glue Dots for the leaves. Rhinestones add a little extra sparkle to the flower center and greeting.
So why do you think I chose Shimmery White cardstock? First, I LOVE the sparkle! Second, it’s a heavier weight than our Whisper White cardstock and takes the watercoloring better.

Here’s a simpler variation of this card that’s still very pretty:
I stamped the Poinsettia in Versamark on Shimmer White and embossed with Silver Embossing Powder. The image is still watercolored and the greeting is stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink. I layered onto our Brushed Silver Cardstock to tie in with the embossing.
