How to add Texture to a card

Did you know it’s easy to add texture to a card?  Stampin’ Up! has lot of tools to help us add texture to our cards: embossing folders, sandable cardstock, ribbons, buttons, etc…  But you can also add texture simply by crumpling and sponging 🙂  At our last group meeting, I received a beautiful card from one of my downine, Laura Leonard, which can be seen here:  http://www.keenankreations.com/2013/10/join-stampin-up-for-25.html.  This is my version of her card which is also the make-n-take at Cottage Crafts tomorrow from 11:30-1:30pm.

The background is stamped with the Woodgrain stamp in Chocolate Chip onto Crumb Cake cardstock.  I LOVE the Woodgrain stamp and think it is a perfect background to the leaves.  The leaves are die-cut with the Autumn Accents Bigz die and Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper from the Holiday Catalog.  I sponged the edges of the leaves first with Chocolate Chip ink and then gently crumpled the leaves and lightly sponged across the crumpled edges.  They are added to the front of the card with Dimensionals.

Even though this card has a masculine feel, it’s not just for the guys!  I made sure to add some feminine touches with the Victoria Crochet ribbon and Pearls and opted for a bow instead of a know with the Linen Thread 😉
