Christmas Card using the Postage Stamp Punch
I had a fun workshop last weekend for Donna and her stamping friends and they got to create this beautiful Christmas card using the Postage Stamp punch and “Season of Style” Designer Series Paper:
I love having a template that can be used for a variety of occasions and also helps to use up the huge amount of designer series papers in my craft room! The Postage Stamp Punch is the perfect size for this layout and you can evenly space 12 punched squares across the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of cardstock layer. I wonder if Stampin’ Up! knew that when they chose the size of that punch?
The base of this Christams card is Cherry Cobber (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ scored at 4 1/2″) and the first layer is Old Olive (4″ x 5 1/4″). You need 12 squares punched with the Postage Stamp punch so I started first with the “Season of Style” Designer Series Paper and used 5 different designs. I pulled a few colors from the paper for the solid color cardstock squares: Bake Brown Sugar, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake. I knew I wanted to add sparkle to this card and decided to add two squares of the Silver Glimmer Paper. That left me with three squares for the stamped images.
This was the hardest part for me since I didn’t have a lot of Christmas stamp sets that had images small enough for the Postage Stamp punch which measures about 1 1/8″ square. I used a LOT of different sets:
Snowflake Soiree (Holiday carry-over stamp set – for the small embossed snowflake)
Petite Pairs (for the greeting)
Warmth and Wonder (Holiday Hostess set – for the deer)
Daydream Medallions (for the wreath, clever huh? 🙂
Tag It (for the Santa)
More Merry Messages (Holiday carry-over stamp set – for the “do not open” greeting)
Here’s the rest of the supplies:
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Versamark
Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Baked Brown Sugar, Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Silver Glimmer paper, Season of Style Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Postage Stamp Punch, Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Bitty Banner Framelits, 1″ Circle Punch, Bitty Punch pack, Dazzling Details, Silver Taffeta Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder
If you have a lot of pretty papers waiting to be used, start punching! Add those little squares to the front of a card and fill in with some coordinating stamped images and cute little embellishments. Use this Christmas card as inspiration to create your own work of art with the Postage Stamp Punch 😉
