Thankful Home Decor

Here’s a case of the sample in the Holiday Mini Catalog (pgs 18 and 19) with some slight changes. I didn’t want a garland (not really sure where I’d hang it in my house) but thought the accordian fold would be nice on the mantel, shelf or buffet. I used the following supplies:

  • On Board Garland Greetings
  • Apple Cider Designer Series Papers
  • Hodge Podge Hardware
  • Photo Corner Punch
  • Paper-piercing tool/template/foam mat
  • Jumbo metal eyelets
  • Wasabi Double-stiched Ribbon
  • Earth Elements button
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • 1 1/4″ and Scallop Circle punches
  • Chocolate 5/8″ Grosgrain ribbon
  • Chocolate Chip cardstock

Each letter is connected with the Chocolate Grosgrain ribbon and the back is covered with Chocolate Chip cardstock. The paper is cut to the size of the chipboard, the inside letter is popped out and set aside. I then put the base chipboard on top of the paper to trace the inside of the letter. I used an exacto knife (with cutting mat) to carefully cut out the letter. The cut out piece is glued to the popped out piece for some other project (I think I’ll use mine on a scrapbook page). Glue the paper to the larger piece of the chipboard and sand the edges. I then applied some coordinating paper on the back to cover the opening from the popped out letter. Each letter took right about 10 minutes to trim, cut and adhere. Then you place the letters upside down and backwards to adhere 2 strips of the ribbon to the back. Be very careful here (I just heard Elmer Fudd’s voice saying that! Does anyone remember him hunting “wabbit” ? :-) or when you flip if over, your letters may be backwards and spell “LUFKNAHT” :-) I only point that out because it happened to me! Here are some close ups to show all the embellishments (it’s hard not to go crazy here but I think I showed a little restraint :-)

  1. Great Job! I like it better the way you did it. It is hard to find a place to hang things…
